About this site

How we count visits

This site does not follow you. It sets no cookie and runs no counting script. This page says exactly what is recorded, and how you can check that yourself.

What the site does not do

  • It sets no cookie, and it stores no other identifier on your device.
  • It runs no script from another company. The typefaces, the style sheets and the images all come from the site itself.
  • It does no fingerprinting. That is the name for reading the properties of a browser or a device in order to recognise it again.
  • Your browser contacts one web server only: the one that delivers this site.

What the server log contains

The site runs on a web server at TransIP, a hosting company in the Netherlands. Like any web server, it writes one line in an access log for each request:

  • the address of the internet connection the request came from;
  • the date and time;
  • the page or file that was requested.

A log of this kind can also hold the kind of browser and the address of the page that linked to ours. The log exists for security and to keep the site running. The hosting company keeps it for a period that it sets itself.

What the firm reads from it

At most totals per page: how many times a page was requested in a period. The site counts visits in no other way.

We do not look up single visitors. We do not follow a visitor from page to page. We do not combine the log with any other data.

Why you see no consent notice

Dutch law asks for consent before a site stores information on the device of a visitor or reads information from it, with a few narrow exceptions. The rule is article 11.7a of the Telecommunicatiewet.

This site stores no cookie and no identifier on your device, reads nothing from it and tracks nothing. There is nothing to ask consent for, so no notice is shown.

Check it yourself

You do not have to take our word for it. Any browser on a computer can show you.

  1. Open the developer tools of your browser. In most browsers the key F12 opens them. On a Mac, press Option, Command and I together.
  2. Open the panel named Application or Storage and choose Cookies. The list for this site is empty, on every page.
  3. Open the panel named Network and load the page again. Every request in the list goes to the address of this site and to no other.
